Pet friendly log cabins

At Windmill Lodges we appreciate you do not always want to leave your pet at home, especially when there are so many lovely walks and places to explore. Surrounded by open countryside with the coast, forest and heathland within easy driving distance we are the perfect base from which to discover Suffolk with your four legged friend alongside you. We accept up to two dogs, of at least ten months in age, in our pet friendly log cabins, and this information is written with dogs in mind. Of course you may wish to bring another type of pet with you –  if this is the case please give us a call to see if we can accommodate.

I know it’s the boring bit but it is the important bit – if you would like to bring your pet with you on a holiday at Windmill Lodges please ensure you read our T & C’s.

At your lodge

We know how important it is to have your pet with you on holiday and we’re sure your pet will enjoy relaxing in your cabin with you.

Both Wagtail and Woodpecker Lodge have fully enclosed and gated deck areas, so you can sit back and enjoy your alfresco dinner, safe in the knowledge your pet is safe – although please bear in mind if you have a little dog they may decide to squeeze through the bars!

We want your pet to enjoy their stay just as much as  you do, which is why they will receive a welcome treat from us too!

Walkies

At the bottom of our drive you will find the edge of the village green over which stands proud the Grade II listed Windmill. The green is the ideal place to go for a stroll in a wide open space; walking across the green and past the windmill you can join the footpath that crosses the fields bringing you back to Windmill Lodges. From the village green you are also able to  pick up footpaths taking you to Framlingham or you can call in at the pub for a pint!

With direct access from our site to the local footpath network you can ramble for miles off road while staying in one of our dog friendly lodges. If you enjoy a longer walk and would like to explore our local footpath network or those further afield we have the local OS Explorer Map (212) and various other walking maps available for guests use.

Out and About

We have some beautiful beaches along our coastline and many are dog friendly. Dunwich and Walberswick beaches allow dogs throughout the year, other beaches such as Aldeburgh and Southwold restrict access 1st May to 30th September. For further details on our seaside towns and beaches as well as the restrictions in place please visit our beaches page.

There are many family attractions which welcome your pet as well as your children! Nearby Easton Farm Park , Suffolk Punch Trust and the East Anglia Transport Museum are good places to start.

We are fortunate enough to have an Area Of Natural Outstanding Beauty on our doorstep. The AONB has produced some fabulous walking guides including pub walks! To download these guides please click here.

Eating Out

With many local dog friendly pubs you will have plenty of choice where to enjoy a pint or a meal out in the company of your pooch. The Old Mill House  is situated just across our village green where your dog is welcome to join you. The Crown in Framlingham which is a couple of miles away welcomes dogs. Click here for details of Framlingham Mere that has a circular route to enjoy taking in views of the College and the Castle.
