Why Windmill Lodges is the Best Place for a Holiday

Whether you are booking a holiday for this year or next, Windmill Lodges has a lot to offer for people of all ages and interests. Here we look at some of the different types of well-earned break. As well as lodges with hot tubs in the heart of Suffolk, we can offer a lot more besides.
A Romantic Getaway
Whether you want to celebrate a loved one’s birthday, a wedding anniversary or St Valentine’s Day in a really special way, our one-bed Chaffinch Lodge is ideal. It sleeps two people but can also accommodate a child under the age of 11 as we have a folding bed available for an extra charge.
As our only one-bed cabin, it is extremely popular for couples so if you want a romantic log cabin weekend break you are advised to book it as soon as possible.
A Family Holiday
You won’t have a problem keeping your children occupied during your stay with us. If they like to be beside the seaside then the resorts of Southwold and Aldeburgh are just a short drive away.
If your kids are interested in animals, then Easton Farm Park is just over six miles south of Saxtead. Youngsters will have the chance to get close to rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens and lots of larger livestock. More energetic youngsters may prefer a visit to Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park in Lowestoft, which is only 30 miles away.
A Dog’s Holiday Too
Two of our lodges are pet-friendly, which means you don’t have to leave your dog behind or put it into a kennel. Our Woodpecker and Wagtail cabins, which both have two bedrooms and sleep four people, are pet friendly. Both are supplied with dog leads and two average-sized feeding bowls. If you want to bring a pet other than a dog, call us in advance to check if it’s OK.
Your canine companion will be able to accompany you on walks throughout the region’s picturesque countryside and along Suffolk’s coastline, although two of the main beaches (Aldeburgh and Southwold) don’t allow pets until after September 30 every year.
A Slice of History
Keen historians will find plenty to enjoy close at hand. Framlingham Castle, which dominates the skyline of the nearest town, dates from the late 12th century. It was here that Mary Tudor learned she had been crowned Queen of England in 1553. Sutton Hoo, near Woodbridge, is one of the country’s most important Anglo-Saxon burial grounds.
Aviation enthusiasts will want to combine their stay with a trip to either Parham Airfield Museum or the 493rd Debach Airfield Museum. These both honour the American troops and aircrew who served in the area during the Second World War.
The Lap of Luxury
If you want a little bit of luxury from your holiday, then why not book Kingfisher Lodge, our five-star holiday log cabin? As well as a hot tub and a king-size sleigh bed with an en suite bathroom in the master bedroom, this lodge also has an infra-red sauna complete with mood lighting and an integrated sound system.
Kingfisher, which is pictured above, sleeps four people in two bedrooms, but we can also offer an additional folding guest bed if you have a child under the age of 16.
Lodges with Hot Tubs in the Suffolk Countryside
Whatever type of holiday you want, you will be able to enjoy it with us. All our lodges have their own private hot tubs, so at the end of the day you’ll be able to chill out and relax – maybe with a drink too.
Inside your lodge, which offer either 4- or 5-star comforts, you will find a fully fitted kitchen, an en suite bathroom or shower room, a TV and free wi-fi.
We are fully compliant with all the latest Government advice regarding the coronavirus, and we have been awarded ‘COVID 19 Confident’ accreditation by the AA and the ‘We’re Good to Go’ accolade from Visit England.
