The Benefits of a Short Suffolk Break if you Work from Home

Just as you should take regular breaks from your computer when you’re at the office, you should also make sure you take regular breaks when working from home.

While you may be avoiding the dreaded commute to work, there are plenty of other domestic pressures that may not be present in the office. For instance, all of your family will be there at some stage during your working day. At the same time, it’s very easy to fall into the trap of being permanently available or on-call via either phone or email long into the evening and during weekends.

Windmill Lodges is the ideal place to cut yourself off from the world of work (even when that’s at home) thanks to our log cabin weekend breaks in the heart of Suffolk. Here are a few reasons why a weekend break in one of our lodges might be just what you need.

There’s Plenty of Solitude

Windmill Lodges is located in rural Suffolk where there’s plenty of peace and tranquillity on offer. All the stresses and strains of work and the outside world can melt away as you step into your own private hot tub (which all our lodges have).

We now have a guest facilities cabin which has books, board games and tourist information leaflets which you can borrow. This will give you more options if you just want to relax in your cabin, or find peaceful and quiet places to visit nearby.

For example, there are plenty of walking opportunities to be had as our site is close to the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The idyllic yet quiet beaches of Walberswick and Covehithe are also close by if you want to spend some time by the sea.

There’s Plenty to Do

If you want to keep active during your short break, then there are plenty of options close at hand as well.

The beaches at Southwold and Aldeburgh are usually quite busy and the towns themselves have many independent shops and plenty of old-fashioned charm. The nearest town, Framlingham, has a regular market and a medieval castle to explore.

There are many cycle trails, both official and unofficial, close to Windmill Lodges too. You can also enjoy other sporting activities such as golf and sailing as well. For more information on these check out our ‘Sporting Suffolk’ page here.

We also have pet friendly lodges (Woodpecker and Wagtail) if you want to bring your canine companion with you. On September 30, restrictions regarding Suffolk’s beaches and dogs were lifted meaning you can now both take a stroll (or a run) along the beach.

The Benefits if You Live Locally

Windmill Lodges is particularly beneficial if you live either in Suffolk already, or fairly close by such as in London or the Home Counties. This is because there won’t be much travelling to do, meaning you can save time and money (something which is especially useful with petrol being so expensive at the moment).

Travelling close to home also lets you rediscover places near to home that you maybe haven’t visited in many years, and perhaps some little gems you didn’t know were on your doorstep. Travelling locally is also great for contributing to the local economy, keeping shops, cafes, and museums going during this tough time.
