What has been happening at Windmill Lodges recently?
Many of our guests keep in touch with what is happening here at the lodges through our social media, however we are aware that not everyone uses Facebook or Instagram.
As we do not want anyone to miss out on what is going on we will keep you up to date on this page with a taster of our posts. We hope you will find if helpful to make the most of your stay.

It may be wet and windy outside but our cabins are warm and cosy for all the family.

Not that you need an excuse when on holiday with us, but with the darker mornings making it more difficult to get up, why not embrace it and have breakfast in bed.

Wow it’s October! Time for picture perfect countryside walks and cosy nights by the fire. A great time to stay with us if you are looking for a few days of relaxation.

Have you been watching Wimbledon? It always makes me think of strawberries and cream teas. What better place to enjoy, than on the veranda of your lodge listening to the bird song. .

Something different for your next stay? Book yourself a beach ride, or a hack in the woods? @pakefieldridingschool offer both beach rides on beautiful Pakefield Beach or why not go for a half an hour ride in the woods? You don’t have to be able to ride to enjoy either of these, and if you haven’t ridden for a while don’t forget you can ease those tired muscles in your hot tub! .

Sunday 29th June
We are spoilt for choice with beaches along the heritage coast, but have you considered day hire of a beach hut to make the most of your trip to the seaside? Beach Hut Southwold offer day hire of their huts which are on the lifeguarded beach right next to the pier. Perfect as a base for all the family.
Thursday 26th June
Just like we nurture and look after our log cabins, our site is important to us too! Over the years we have encouraged wildflowers to grow, put up bird boxes, let the hedges mature for wildlife and we’ve also grown many of our plants from cuttings and seeds. That’s why we always smile and are delighted when our guests tell us they’ve have enjoyed the peace and quiet sitting on their veranda surrounded by nature! .
Sunday 1st June
Every June brings the delights of elderflower cordial, and when the lemons and sugar are sat on the worktop the boys start to get impatient. It’s such a delightful refreshing cordial and perfect simply served with over ice with cold water or with something fizzy. It is also quick and easy enough to make during your stay with us, with just four ingredients – elderflower, sugar, lemons and citric acid.Find the recipe here

Delighted to let you know our pool has re-opened for the season and will be open from now until 29th September.
Sunday 18th May
Planning a half term getaway? It’s not too late to book! With lots of family fun to enjoy in the local area, we are an ideal base to explore and experience all Suffolk has to offer before returning to relax in our picturesque countryside setting.
Thursday 15th May
Kingfisher Lodge in the evening sun. With the lovely weather we’re having ywe can begin to enjoy evening outside. If there’s a chill in the air you will find a blanket for your knees in its own bag in the cupboard

Thursday 8th May
Our site has really sprung to life this last couple of weeks with leaves appearing on the trees and birds keeping busy building their nests! Its been lovely to see guests enjoying their surroundings from the comfort of their log cabins and with lots of footpaths nearby, if you want to leave your cabin, you don’t have to go too far to experience the wonderful Suffolk countryside!

Next bank holiday weekend the pool is open for the 2025 season and we are busy behind the scenes getting everything ready for our guests. If you would like to stay when our pool is open, the opening times for this year are from 23rd May until the 29th September.

We can’t quite believe we are already in May, but this week has given us a glimpse of the summer to come. We’ve put together a guide to spending a summer break at Windmill Lodges, visit our website to find out more, you will find the link in our bio.

With the weather warming up and we are so excited that we can enjoy breakfast in the sunshine!
Thursday 24th April
It is International Dark Skies Week, and we are lucky here at Windmill Lodges to have very little light polution on our site. Guests enjoy gazing at the stars from their hot tubs, moonlit walks back from the local pub and even the occational glimpse of the northern lights! Did you know we offer the opportunity to experience astronomy during your stay with our telescope here on site available for hire. It’s a great way to try something different during your holiday. Thursday 17th April
We are fortunate to be surrounded by fields with an abundance of different wildlife to spot both on site and off. Ranging from the deer herd seen here to buzzards, hares, owls and if you’re lucky you may see a falsh of blue as a Kingfisher flies over our small lake.
Sunday 13th April
Our big Suffolk Skies really do bring us the most magical sunsets. I never tire of their beauty.
Thursday 10th April
Our cabins all have the same beautiful 8″ round log walls, but they have all been finished a bit differently. This is Chaffinch Lodge and we think the sofa and cushion colours pick out the colours in the stunning photo taken by our middle son of Framlingham Castle.
Sunday 6th April
We blessed with some stunning weather this week beautiful blue skies and warm daytime temperatures. There is a smell of cut grass in the air as John is back on the mower. What a fabulous start for those now breaking you for the Easter holidays.
Thursday 3rd April
We love our beach days here at Windmill Lodges, whatever the time of year. This is a photo of Dunwich Beach, in August! We always enjoy hearing where our guests have visited during their stay.
Sunday 30th March
With the change in the clocks it really feels like winter is behind us, Easter Sunday is now only threes weeks away and all of our remaining Easter breaks are now discounted.
Thursday 27th March
To help with planning your next stay with us we have out together a list of local events, for example Aldeburgh Food and Drink Festival taking place at Snape Maltings on the 27th and 28th September. Click here to find out more.
Sunday 23rd March
When you stay in our log cabins don’t forget to take a moment to write in our visitor books. It’s so lovely to have your comments and we appreciate every one of them. Some of our books go back as far as 2011 making them a really nice thing for guests to read too, while they enjoy their holidays wth us.
Thursday 20th March
For an extra touch of luxury and relaxation, Kingfisher Lodge is a perfect choice. As well as a hot tub, it has a sauna too! It’s a great way of enjoying some well deserved pamper time surrounded by the peaceful suffolk countryside.

When John and I are able we do enjoy exploring the local antique shops. With so many to visit in the local vicinity read about a day trip we took rounded off with a delicious afternoon tea at The Swan at Southwold.

Kingfisher Lodge sunset reflections – this week has seen beautiful sunsets and sunrises, I must admit I adore both, but there’s something about a stunning sunrise and the promise of a beautiful day to come. Which do you prefer?

With all the deer currently spotted around the surrounding fields the cushions in Bullfinch Lodge are very apt. Bullfinch is a two bedroom lodge with hot tub accessed directly off the master bedroom. With large open plan living area and two bathrooms perfect for your next family break .
