Reasons to Escape City Life for a Short Suffolk Break

Are you looking for a short holiday to escape the pace of London life? Would you like a little peace and quiet – but with the option of being a bit more active? And would you like all this to be just within a few hours of your home?

If so, a short Suffolk break at Windmill Lodges could be the answer! Here’s why.

The Journey Times

We are around two hours’ drive from the centre of London; you don’t have to worry about a long journey, in contrast to any overseas trip – or one at the other end of the country. Birmingham and the Midlands to Saxtead, where Windmill Lodges is located, is under three hours away by car and you can spend most of the journey on the A14.

The Pace of Life

There’s a real contrast between the hustle and bustle of London and our quiet site. And there’s the added bonus of enjoying a hot tub holiday in the heart of Suffolk – all our cabins are equipped with one of these. If you want to, you can spend your whole time on site. All the rooms have TVs, DVD players, free Wifi and fully equipped kitchens, as well as ensuite bathrooms or shower rooms.

If you go out, there are still lots of opportunities to enjoy some peace and quiet – the nearby Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty has plenty of dedicated footpaths and trails. You can also check out the birdlife at nearby RSPB Minsmere – all things you’d be hard pressed to find in the heart of London or any other major city.

A More Active Life

There’s still plenty to see and do in and around Windmill Lodges if you do want to be more sociable and active. If you check out our site’s Local Area pages you can find details of all the local beaches and resorts, the cinemas, farm shops and farmers’ markets, sports activities and nearby museums.

For instance, if you want to enjoy a day on the coast, you have the choice of the old-fashioned charm of Southwold, pictured above. Further south lies the resort of Aldeburgh, where you’ll be able to enjoy plenty of freshly caught fish. If you want something more active you could try golf, shooting, fishing or cycling; and if you want to try something family-friendly, the nearby Easton Farm Park has plenty of sheep, lambs, piglets and other animals for youngsters to enjoy.

It’s Value for Money

You can enjoy short Suffolk breaks at Windmill Lodges for as little as £555 – the price of an off-peak (not in July or August) four-night stay for two in our one-bedroomed Chaffinch Lodge. We sometimes offer late availability discounts – look out for any announcements elsewhere on the site’s news section, where it will be advertised.

We offer a variety of different lengths of holidays – breaks for either two nights (Friday to Sunday) three nights (Friday to Monday, or Monday to Thursday) or for four nights (Monday to Friday). Our changeover days are always Mondays and Fridays.
