New Year Breaks in the Lap of Luxury

New Year Breaks in the Lap of Luxury

Starting the New Year with a trip to Suffolk is an ideal way of recharging your batteries – and where better to relax than in one of our authentic log cabins?

Our Kingfisher Lodge luxury holiday cabin has been given a five-star rating by VisitEngland, the country’s official tourist board, and all our other lodges in the heart of the Suffolk countryside offer four-star comfort.

Relaxing After a Day’s Exercise

Many of Suffolk’s picturesque beaches are within easy reach of Windmill Lodges, including Southwold, Covehithe, Aldeburgh and Dunwich. All are suitable for a New Year stroll – or even a swim if you are feeling particularly energetic and don’t mind the cold.

All lie within the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which also offers a host of other attractions. These include the RSPB reserve at Minsmere and the world-famous Snape Maltings concert hall which has classical concerts throughout the year, while the complex also includes shops, galleries and cafes.

Whatever you decide to do, when you return to Windmill Lodges at the end of the day, you can take the weight off your feet and relax in your lodge’s own private hot tub. Kingfisher Lodge, our five-star holiday log cabin, also has an infra-red sauna, plus an en suite bathroom and a family shower room. Both have underfloor heating so there is no danger of you getting cold feet!

Food and Cooking

Windmill Lodges is an ideal place for food and wine-lovers. If you want to buy some tempting local fare from a local supplier, then the nearby town of Framlingham has a market every Tuesday and Saturday, and the award-winning Shawsgate Vineyard is just 10 minutes away.

You can then come back to any of our lodges and prepare a tempting meal. All our cabins have fully equipped kitchens, including a fridge with a freezer, or an ice box plus access to a shared chest freezer. Our Kingfisher Lodge also has a range cooker and even a breadmaker.

Plenty to Do, Whatever the Weather

Even if the New Year weather isn’t too good, then there are plenty of things to do. Southwold, Aldeburgh and Framlingham all have a good mix of local independent shops as well as some of the bigger names.

If you fancy watching a film, Aldeburgh, Southwold, Woodbridge and Leiston all have their own independent cinemas, while the larger chains operate in Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds. And if you need to entertain your children, then several local cafes offer pottery-painting sessions as well as a cup of tea. We have come up with a few more rainy-day ideas here.

Kingfisher Lodge – a Luxury Suffolk Holiday Cabin

Whether you are after a family holiday, or a short weekend break, Windmill Lodges is the place for you. Kingfisher Lodge, our luxury holiday cabin, also contains two patios and a decked area.
