Five Advantages of a Short Break at Windmill Lodges

Record numbers of people have been booking holidays in the UK this year, with many opting for a short domestic break rather than spend money on an expensive foreign trip. Concerns over the coronavirus is one factor, although many people are now rediscovering the delights of the UK as a holiday destination.
Windmill Lodges provide hot tub holidays in the heart of East Anglia. Here we look at the advantages offered by a short Suffolk break.
It’s a Lot Easier to Organise
A short Suffolk holiday (we offer a week’s break or just a weekend – arrival dates are Mondays and Fridays) is much easier to organise than a trip abroad – no worrying about visas and passports, baggage allowances and all the queueing at the airport, sorting out ferry and rail bookings and suchlike. Just book with us, pack your suitcase and drive straight to our site.
You Can Bring the Dog
There’s no problem bringing your pet with you, so you don’t have to worry about booking kennels. We have two pet-friendly log cabins at our Suffolk base, Woodpecker and Wagtail, which can accommodate four people as well as your dog. The two lodges both have two medium-sized bowls for food and water as well as a lead.
One of the advantages of visiting in the autumn is that your canine companion is allowed free use of all the county’s nearby beaches, whereas before 30th September some of the local resorts have dog restrictions in place.
It’s Kinder on Your Wallet
Not only do you avoid kennel fees with a trip to Windmill Lodges, you also don’t have to pay the cost of airline tickets and many of the other associated travel expenses which come with a trip overseas. The only travel costs incurred by staying with us is a tank of petrol or diesel for your car – and you also don’t need to worry about the depreciation of the pound against many foreign currencies.
You Can Bring the Whole Family
You can also make it a family holiday too, as the half term break is coming up towards the end of October. At the time of writing, we still have some lodges available in what is one of the more popular weeks to book. To check out our current availability, click on our availability page.
It’s Good for Your Mental and Physical Health
After the 18 months that many of us have been through, it’s important that people can take a break – and psychologists believe that regular short breaks are better for you than one long holiday. Windmill Lodges is a great location to relax as not only can you get away from it all in the heart of the Suffolk countryside, you also can enjoy all the health benefits of your own private hot tub which all of our lodges are equipped with.
Our cabins also have a range of other facilities, including fully fitted kitchens with a full-size cooker, fridge, microwave and dishwasher.
There’s Plenty to See and Do
If you like to be beside the seaside then the resorts of Aldeburgh and Southwold, each with their own distinct character, are both within easy reach. For those who appreciate birdlife, there’s the RSPB nature reserve at Minsmere, while the whole coastline forms part of the picturesque Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The nearest town is Framlingham, with boasts a magnificent 12th Century castle, as well as all the food shops you’ll need to use during your stay.
